Behind every Snarkpaws design is a single observation that turned into a sentence. For the Black Cat tee that reads 'Not bad luck. Other people's bad luck.', the observation was the void does not ask for things — it appears, judges, and re-vanishes — and the realization that thousands of other Black Cat owners had already had the same observation, in their own kitchens, on their own Sundays. We didn't invent the joke. We just curated it down to one wearable line. This is the story of why we put it on a shirt instead of leaving it in the group chat.
The scene we wrote it for
Picture this: it's a Sunday, the Black Cat is doing the thing — the void does not ask for things — it appears, judges, and re-vanishes, and the human is in the middle of explaining for the eighth time that yes, this is normal, no, the vet is not concerned, yes, it is funny. Outside the moment, this looks like a single house. Inside the moment, it's repeating in 20000 other houses with the same lighting.
That's the scene. 'Not bad luck. Other people's bad luck.' is the line the owner says when somebody new walks in. It is the verbal shorthand for 'I know what you're seeing, I've already explained it to my mother, you are joining the conversation in progress.' Some people put a welcome mat at the door. The person who would rather be funny once than agreeable twice puts the explanation on a shirt.
Why this design is breed-locked
We could have made a generic 'dog person' tee that says something like this. We didn't. The reason: the dry, you-saw-it-too kind of pet humor lands ten times harder when it's specific. Black Cat owners know what the camera cannot focus on the smudge and the human cannot either feels like. Other people don't. That gap is the joke.

Honest take
It's a humor tee. It's not life-changing. It is, however, a fairly accurate sentence about a fairly specific kind of Black Cat household, and people who wear it tend to get one of two reactions: a quiet smile from someone who owns one, or a confused half-laugh from someone who doesn't. Both are correct, and the calibration is intentional.
